Thiruvananthapuram: Techies plan awareness rally as tribute to accident victim

will organize a road safety awareness programme for two-wheeler riders from

Technopark

to

Kazhakkoottam

in the next week. The Prathidhwani Travel Club, a collective of travel enthusiasts from Technopark, will organize the two-wheeler rally on December 17.

An accident in which a techie was killed at Kazhakkoottam on November 29 prompted them to organize an

awareness rally

. Reenu Renjith had succumbed to the injuries she suffered in an accident while riding pillion on a scooter.

“The awareness programme was planned after we came to know about the accident. There are many minor accidents happening in the Kazhakkoottam region which go unnoticed,” said Vipin K V, coordinator of the Travel Club.

The rally will start from Technopark Amphitheatre by 3.30pm and cover Thejaswini, Bhavani, Nila, Gayathri Neyyar, Technopark Phase III, Technopark Phase II, Kazhakkoottam and Kinfra EY, and will return to Technopark Phase I main gate by 4.30pm. The organizers have also planned a session on road safety. A commemoration meet for Reenu Renjith will be held at Kinfra EY.

“The techies will take a pledge to wear helmet while riding two-wheelers during the awareness programme,” said Sabeela Shaji, a member of the club.

A reception will be held at different halt points for those participating in the rally, where they will conduct awareness sessions. The group will organize a campaign on social media and will distribute posters this week.

The rally is the third event organized by Prathidhwani Travel Club after its formation in November. Earlier, they had organized a trip to Urumbi hills and conducted a beach cleaning drive at Veli.
