‘Targeted’, PWD minister G Sudhakaran’s wife Jubilee Navaprabha resigns
THIRUVANANTHAPURAM:
While terming all the allegations baseless, Navaprabha said she was being targeted as she was the wife of a minister. “There was no attempt to make my posting permanent and there was no attempt to increase my salary. The post which has been given to me cannot be made permanent as per the university rules. The allegations have been made to tarnish the image of my husband. A group of people in the university is behind this conspiracy and it had started ever since I took over this post,” Navaprabha told reporters on Sunday.
She made it clear that she had never influenced her husband when she attended the interview for the post. In fact he was not aware of me attending the interview. There were several applicants and she was selected through an interview.
“My selection was through proper channel. But I am being targeted. I do not want to continue like this since the damage is being done to the image of the minister who has a clean track record for the past 52 years. For me, my husband is more important than my job. Hence, I am resigning from the post,” she said.
Navaprabha was appointed by the university on May 21, 2018 and the appointment was for a year on contract basis at a consolidated pay of Rs 35,000 per month. There were allegations that the CPM-dominated KU syndicate created this new cosy post specially to accommodate the PWD minister’s wife. Navaprabha had retired as the vice-principal of Alappuzha SD College before taking up this post.
The allegation was that the new post had been reserved for those who retired as principal/vice-principal or department heads and this itself was manipulative as vice-principal’s was not a post sanctioned by the university but created at the college level for administrative purposes.
