THIRUVANANTHAPURAM: A Tamil Nadu native died after falling from a truck which took off abruptly at a high speed at Mukkampalamoodu on Saturday night.
The deceased has been identified by police as Baiju, 36, of Meenachal at Kanyakumari.
Police said the Tamil Nadu registered truck had arrived at a sawmill at Mukkampalamoodu to collect wood powder. After loading the powder, the deceased was sitting atop the truck when the accident took place.
The driver suddenly started the truck forward negligently and Baiju was thrown off. He suffered serious head injuries in the fall. Even though he was rushed to Neyyattinkara NIMS hospital and later shifted to the medical college hospital, he died while being under treatment.
Naruvamoodu police registered a case against driver Robert, a Kanyakumari native. Baiju is survived by his wife Nisha and two daughters aged 11 and six.
