SHRC seeks decision on pension arrears

T'puram: The state human rights commission has directed that the govt must make a decision within six weeks on the pending pension arrears for those over 80 years of age.
Commission chairperson, Justice Alexander Thomas, said a decision should be taken on the demand to urgently pay the revised pension arrears and DA arrears for these people.
The panel also suggested that, if necessary, the complainants should submit a petition to the govt, and the principal secretary of the finance department should seriously consider the matter and make a decision.
The decision should be communicated to the panel within two weeks after it is made, the order said.
The complaint by Kerala State Pensioners Sangh vice president K K Sreekumar mentioned that, according to a Right to Information response, 77,000 service pensioners passed away from July 2019 to last April without receiving the full revised pension arrears. TNN
