Search on for two youths who stabbed cop

T'puram: Two youths stabbed and injured a policeman in retaliation for overtaking their bike. The injured is senior civil police officer Biju, 46, of Varkala police station. The incident occurred around 10pm on Saturday near Palayamkunnu Factory Junction.According to Biju's statement, he overtook the bike on which the assailants were travelling, which angered them. They followed him, verbally abused, and stabbed him in the back with a knife. Police FIR mentions that Biju escaped a neck injury because the bike swerved.After the attack, the assailants fled on their bike. Ayiroor police have registered a case for attempted murder and intensified the investigation. Police said efforts are on to trace the culprits and the CCTV footage verification is ongoing.
