Screening of documentary on filmmaker Krishnan Nair today

Thiruvananthapuram: A documentary on late film director and JC Daniel award winner M Krishnan Nair titled ‘M Krishnan Nair - A life in black and white’ will be screened on Wednesday 6pm at Thycaud Surya Ganesham hall.The documentary produced by Kerala State Chalachitra Academy has been directed by Krishnan Nair’s son and former chief secretary K Jayakumar. A commemorative meeting will be held at 5.30pm ahead of the screening. Sreekumaran Thampi, George Onakkoor, K Jayakumar, Prem Kumar, vice-chairman of the academy, secretary of the academy C Ajoy will be present on the occasion.It was in 2022 that K Jayakumar began the shooting of the documentary. The documentary features the biggest contributions of Krishnan Nair to Malayalam cinema. The filming of the documentary commenced with shots of Sreekumaran Thampi and Madhu sharing their memories about Krishnana Nair. The documentary is being shot as part of visual documentation of works by Krishnan Nair. Academy secretary C Ajoy said the venture was part of a project to make documentaries on JC Daniel award winners.Earlier in 2019 K Jayakumar had published a memoir on his father titled ‘Krishnapaksham’ and the new edition of the book will also be released on Wednesday.Kavyamela directed by Krishnan Nair had won the national award for best feature film in Malayalam. CID, Kuttikuppayam, Kattuthulasi, Cochin Express, Mylanji and Maniyara are some of his notable films. Krishnan Nair, who had over 100 films to his credit, had died in 2001. He was awarded the prestigious J C Daniel award in 2000. The 45 minute long documentary features his life spanning three decades.
