Thiruvananthapuram: The government has appointed a seven-member jury led by national award-winning filmmaker Saeed Akhtar Mirza for deciding the state film awards for 2021. As many as 142 films have been submitted for screening and the jury will begin screening from April 28.
The committee also includes director and film critic K Gopinathan, filmmaker Sunder Das, Hindi filmmaker and screenplay writer Suresh Triveni, singer Bombay Jayashree, director and cinematographer Fousia Fathima and sound designer Hareendranath Dwarak Warrier.
This year too there will be two panels of sub-committees which will divide and screen the entry films and shortlist them which will go for judgment before the final jury.
The first sub-committee headed by K Gopinathan will have former deputy director of Doordarshan Baiju Chandran, writer Sushmesh Chandroth and sound designer Jissy Michael as members. The second sub-committee headed by Sunder Das, will have writer

as members.
For the awards for the literary works on cinema, the jury will be headed by national award winner and film critic

Kerala State Chalachitra Academy secretary C Ajoy will be the member secretary in all the committees.
