Online fraud: Police issue advisory

Thiruvananthapuram: The state police have released a public warning about new scams that claim to help victims of online financial fraud recover their lost funds. The warning comes after reports that a fraudulent organization called the ‘All India Legal Services Authority' has been targeting scam victims with false promises of returning their stolen money.
The scammers contacted the victims via WhatsApp call or voice message and offered to help them recover their lost funds through a scam. The fraudsters successfully persuaded the victims and requested payment for registration. The victims were also told that they would receive a GST bill and that the lost money and registration amount would be credited to their account within 48 hours.
In a statement, the police clarified that no such organization exists and that they have not authorized any agency to recover money lost through fraud. The police have urged victims to immediately report such incidents by calling the number 1930.
