Thiruvananthapuram: Vigilance and anti-corruption bureau has launched a probe into the functioning of the Kerala State Sports Council for the last 10 years.
The quick verification into the administration of sports council was ordered by vigilance director Jacob Thomas upon a complaint by Sebastian George, brother of renowned volleyball player Jimmy George.

The Thiruvananthapuram unit of the vigilance has begun the probe.
It is learnt that the issues that will be probed include the allegations of corruption in the construction of high-altitude stadium in Munnar, the appointments to the council in the last 10 years and the allegations regarding the conduct of sports lottery during the tenure of the last LDF government.
Former president of the council and Olympian Anju Bobby George had demanded a probe into the functioning of the council, while quitting the position owing to the differences with sports minister E P Jayarajan.
In an open letter to the minister, she had demanded a thorough probe into the activities of the council for the past decade. Anju Bobby George had faced allegations from the current sports minister that lot of corruption had taken place during her tenure.
