No plans for retirement, says Sukumari
THIRUVANANTHAPURAM: Padmashree recipient Sukumari, who has acted in over 2000 films, said she has no immediate plans for retirement.
"I have not thought of retirement. I have been acting without rest for the last 52 years. No one has so far told me it is time to stop," the 62 year-old actress, honoured with the Padmasree this year, told a meet-the-press programme here.
Sukumari, who had acted in Malayalam, Tamil, Telugu, Kannada, Hindi, Bengali and Sinhalese films, said Kerala government was "cold" towards according due recognition to artistes.

"It was the Tamil Nadu government which proposed my name for Padmasree," she said.
To a question, Sukumari said she did not think that the era of Mammootty and Mohanlal, the superstars of Malayalam cinema, was over. "They are trying to adapt to changing situations. And sometimes they click too," she said.
