NGO launches 'Disha 2016'
Thiruvananthapuram: Transforming the city into a better one, with active participation from the youth, is what the volunteers of Helping Hands Organization (H2O) aim to achieve by launching their project titled 'Disha 2016'. The initiative was launched by excise commissioner Rishiraj Singh, who shared his personal cell number with the youth, welcoming them to bring into his notice any act taking place in the city that violates the law. Also present was chairperson of the Kerala Child Right's Commission, Sobha Koshy.
"The active participation of youngsters alone can bring about transformation," said Rishiraj Singh inaugurating the event.
A constructive debate that followed the launch discussed issues relating to drug abuse, waste management, pollution, health and child rights stressing on how the youth could play active roles in bettering the situations in each of these fields. The organization also plans to spread its wings to other districts soon by establishing centres that welcome active volunteers to contribute to the cause. The points and solutions gathered at the debate shall be used to create an action plan.
