KOCHI: The new office-bearers of the Malayalam Cine Technicians Association (Macta) assumed charge on Tuesday after a court here dismissed a petition challenging their election.

KOCHI: The new office-bearers of the Malayalam Cine Technicians Association (Macta) assumed charge on Tuesday after a court here dismissed a petition challenging their election.
Malayalam film director K G George took over as the chairman. The others who took charge are: P G Vishwambaran (vice-chairman), Sibi Malyalil (general secretary), Shibu Chakravarthy (secretary), V C Ashok and B Ashok (executive committee members).
They assumed office after the munisiff court here dismissed a petition by a rival faction challenging their election.

The court had earlier restrained them from taking charge.
Later, George told reporters that he was not viewing his assumption of office as a ''victory'', but only felt that a crisis had blown over.
