Nedumudi Venu. He was speaking at the 93rd birth anniversary celebrations of Thoppil Bhasi organized by Thoppil Bhasi Nadaka Padana Kendram at VJT Hall here on Monday.
The veteran actor, who was bestowed with the Excellence Award at the event, said that the role of drama movement was of high importance in the history of the state.
“The drama movement in the state was led by some of the greatest the state has ever produced. Most of them had strong leftist leanings. This was evident in their creations like ‘Ningalenne Communist aaki’. These works above anything else had ignited the leftist surge in the Kerala society,” the actor said.
Earlier SRK Pillai, who chaired the meeting hailed Nedumudi venu as a total actor. “Nedumudi’s acting is something that every student of acting should seriously study. The acting prowess that he displayed in movies and dramas simply prove that he is a ‘total actor’.
The event was inaugurated by deputy mayor Rakhi Ravikumar who presented the award to Nedumudi Venu and to the winners of various competitions held as part of the event. tnn
