Man killed in midnight clash
Kollam: A 25-year-old man was stabbed to death and four others were injured in a clash between neighbours at Nedumbana in Kollam on Sunday.The deceased has been identified as Sajith, a welding worker from Keralapuram. His brother Sujith, 19, sustained serious injuries and is undergoing treatment at a private hospital.
Police said the incident occurred around 1am, following a dispute that began around 10.30pm at Changathimukku, Nedumbana, over a quarrel involving Sajith's paternal uncle and neighbours. When Sajith and Sujith reached the spot after learning about the clash, an altercation broke out.Though Kannanallur police initially dispersed both groups, another clash erupted after they reassembled, during which Sajith and Sujith were stabbed. Two members of the opposite group were also injured and admitted to Thiruvananthapuram medical college hospital (MCH).Six persons including Sunil Raj, 38, Shyju, 40, Prasad, 46, Ananthu, 29, Atul, 22, and Akhil, 24, have been arrested in connection with the incident. Another accused, Sivadasan, is undergoing treatment at MCH.Police said there had been earlier disputes between the families. After postmortem at Parippally medical hospital, body was cremated at Polayathode crematorium on Sunday evening. He is survived by his wife, Sruthi.
