THIRUVANANTHAPURAM: The city police on Saturday arrested a 63-year-old man on charges of murdering his friend. The police identified the accused as Vikraman, a resident of Nedumcaud near Karamana. His arrest was recorded at

police station. Vikraman was arrested for murdering Bose, a resident of Nedumcaud.


The police said the alleged crime took place on Friday evening at the welding workshop owned by Vikraman at Nedumcaud. A dispute occurred between Vikraman and Bose at the workshop and in the melee; the former grabbed a sharp tool and stabbed Bose on his chest and abdomen. Though Bose was taken to the hospital, he succumbed to the injuries during the early hours of Friday.

Vikraman, who tried to flee from the spot, was apprehended by the police with the help of local people. The accused had even tried to attack the police officers to resist the arrest. After Bose died, the police booked him for the charge of murder and recorded his arrest. The police said Vikraman was someone with a criminal record and was even once jailed in a Pocso case.
