Man held for attack on women, child

Thiruvananthapuram: Palode police on Thursday arrested a 26-year-old

man

who and seriously injured several members of a family. The accused has been identified as Amal Krishnan alias Unni of Kundalamkuzhi near.

The alleged

crime

related to the case took place on April 23 this year. Krishnan barged into the house of the complainant, an elderly woman, after her son confronted him for

eve teasing

his elder daughter, who is a minor.

As per the complaint, he attacked the residents with sharp tools.

He inflicted serious injuries on the complainant's daughter-in-law.

He also kicked her 10-year-old granddaughter. Another woman, living in the neighbourhood, also sustained injuries when she tried to intervenet to save the women and the child.

Krishnan’s friend Ullas, who accompanied him and allegedlly attacked the residents, is absconding.

Police have booked him for charges of attempt to murder under IPC as well as sexual harassment under Pocso Act.

Police had earlier arrested two men, Swathiraj and Rajesh of Kollam, for harbouring Amal and Ullas.

The accused was arrested by a team led by Palode station house officer inspector Shibukumar.

Krishnan was produced before the court and remanded in judicial custody.
