THIRUVANANTHAPURAM: A fast-track special court on Wednesday sentenced a man to five-year rigorous imprisonment and also imposed a fine of Rs 25,000 for sexually assaulting a 10-year-old girl at Adimalathura.
Judge Aaj Sudarsan has also directed that the accused has to undergo an additional life term of three months in default of the payment. The court also directed to pay the amount to the survivor.
The incident took place on November 4, 2020, when the minor girl and her younger sister were coming home from a nearby shop. The accused waylaid the girls and took them to his house and molested the elder girl. Later, he threatened the girls not to disclose it to anyone. However, the girls disclosed it to their parents. Later a case was registered at Vizhinjam police station and the accused was arrested.
On behalf of prosecution, special prosecutor RS Vijay Mohan appeared before the court.
