Man dead after being found unconscious in Navaikulam
T'puram: A 43-year-old Chirayinkeezhu resident died after he was found unconscious beside the road in front of Indian Overseas Bank at Ethukkad Junction near Navaikulam in the early hours of Tuesday.He was found by commuters at 12:30am and they alerted the police. He was admitted to Parippally medical college hospital, where he died under treatment at 3am. The body has been sent to relatives after post-mortem and inquest proceedings.The deceased has been identified as Vinod, 43, of Kizhuvilam. Police said the deceased was lying 30 feet away from the road and it is not certain whether he was hit by a vehicle. "There was a mark of a tyre on his body and he was under the influence of alcohol. During the examination of CCTV visuals, we could spot three vehicles near the place where he was found unconscious. In another CCTV visual, he was seen walking near the area. He was lying in a spot where national highway travellers park their vehicles to rest. So, the vehicles could have rolled over him in dark. We are examining more CCTV visuals, and owners of the suspected vehicles will be questioned," police said.Police recovered a bus ticket from his pocket from Attingal to Kallambalam. The deceased was a welder by profession and is survived by his wife Asha, 37, and two children Vishaghi, 17, and Vishnu, 15.Kallambalam police registered a case under sections 106 (1) for causing death by negligence and 281 rash driving of the Bharatiya Nyay Sahnita and under sections 134 (A) and 134 (B) of the Motor Vehicles Act-1988.
