Man arrested for stealing batteries

Thiruvananthapuram: The Karamana police arrested a man who was wanted in a case related to theft of batteries from a bus. The arrested was identified as Rajeev (32), a resident of Chennatukonam, Peyadu.
According to the police, he stole two batteries worth Rs 18,000 from a bus which was parked opposite the Homoeo College in Kalady due to engine glitch. Karamana police station sub inspector Santhu V said that the team received information about a person frequenting shops in an auto with batteries.
The police then recovered the batteries from a scrap shop and the batteries were imprinted with the name of the bus from which they were stolen. The police then tracked down the auto driver who had helped Rajeev with the transportation of the batteries. While Rajeev initially declined to accept the crime, he later confessed and was held by the police.
Fort assistant commissioner Shaji, SHO Sujith, SI Santhu, civil police officers Jeeth Kumar, Shibu, Ranjith were part of the police team who arrested Rajiv.
