NEW DELHI: Malayalam film actor Baiju Santhosh was arrested early Monday for driving his car rashly while under the influence of alcohol and hitting a two-wheeler.
The incident occurred at 11.45pm on the Kowdiar-Vellayambalam road in Thiruvananthapuram.
Police arrived at the scene after learning about the incident and took Baiju into custody. His arrest was recorded at 12.30am. Baiju faces charges under Section 281 of the Bharatiya Nyay Sanhita (Rash driving on a public way) and Section 185 of the Motor Vehicles Act, 1988 (Driving under the influence of alcohol).
Baiju was later released on station bail, and the police have taken his car into custody. The scooter passenger did not suffer serious injuries and has not filed a complaint with the police.
