Lenin’s body brought to city, cremation today
Thiruvananthapuram: Mortal remains of filmmaker Lenin Rajendran, who died in a private hospital in Chennai on Monday night, will be cremated at Santhi Kavadam here with state honours on Wednesday.
The body was brought to the city on Tuesday evening. It was kept at his residence at Pandit’s Colony, Kowdiar, and will be taken to University College, Palayam at 9.30am on Wednesday.
Rajendran was an alumnus of University College and the body will be kept at the institution for students and public to pay homage. By 10.30am, it will be taken to Kalabhavan theatre where Kerala State Film Development Corporation (KSFDC) office is situated. Rajendran was the chairman of KSFDC. From there, the body will be taken to Santhi Kavadam at 1.45pm. Cremation will take place at 2pm.
Chief minister Pinarayi Vijayan paid homage to the departed soul at the latter’s residence on Tuesday night. “Lenin Rajendran was an artist who had made use of immense possibilities for documenting history in cinema. He is one artist who could invite the attention of people to artistic movies,” Vijayan noted in his condolence message.
