LDF plans campaigns to fight BJP and UDF

THIRUVANANTHAPURAM: The LDF will launch state-wide campaigns to popularise the pro-people initiatives of the Pinarayi Vijayan government and to counter the 'false' propaganda unleashed by the opposition

and the BJP. Two rallies, starting from the north and the south of the state, will begin on October 1 and conclude by October 15. The state committee meeting of the LDF held here on Friday decided to form a subcommittee led by LDF convener Vaikom

to prepare a detailed plan for the campaign rallies. “All details, including the captains of campaign rallies, will be decided by the subcommittee soon,“ said Viswan.

The LDF reviewed that the BJP has been conducting campaigns across the state to divide the society on communal lines. “The LDF campaign rally will raise anti-communal, secular and democratic slogans. The LDF government has been implementing all the policies promised by the front. That needs to be conveyed to the public. We also want to expose false propaganda by political opponents,“ said Viswan.

The LDF leadership has concluded that the UDF was in a totally bad shape in the state. The front couldn't recover from the shock imparted by the exit of

(M). Another constituent, JD (U) has publicly expressed dissatisfaction over continuing in the UDF. The LDF will use the campaign rally to expose the UDF's weakness too.

The LDF, which discussed the allegations levelled against two ministers, decided to dismiss them as politically motivated. The front will give all its support to health minister

and transport minister Thomas Chandy. Taking note of the high court order removing adverse remarks against Shailaja, Viswan said all facts regarding the appointments in the child rights commission will be communicated to the court. “ Allegations against Chandy are not related to any of his actions after becoming minister. All allegations are based on what happened during the previous UDF regime,“ said Viswan.

Welcoming the high court order acquitting chief minister Pinarayi Vijayan in the

case, Viswan said the LDF government would not take any steps to encourage corruption. “The government will speed up development activities,“ he said.

The KSRTC crisis came up for debate again at the meeting. The committee listened to the minister who said all pension arrears will be distributed before September 30.

“Pension for one month will be given as Onam advance from Monday,“ said the LDF convener.

The state committee asked the government to speed up the process of availing loan from a new consortium of banks to rejig the liabilities of the KSRTC.
