THIRUVANANTHAPURAM: Union minister V Muraleedharan said law and order in the state is in complete shambles as a minister himself has stated that people belonging to different communities have clashed with each other.

"There was a riot-like situation at Vizhinjam yesterday. Where were the chief minister and ministers from the district? Even the all-party meeting is at the district collector level. The home department has been orphaned," he said.

Meanwhile, BJP national executive committee member PK Krishnadas said CM Pinarayi Vijayan has proven himself as the most inefficient home minister in the state's history. "It's after a gap of 50 years that a police station attack took place in the state. The state police, which remained mute spectators in front of rioters, have brought shame to Kerala.

If CM is unable to maintain law and order, he should call the central force," he said. He also said there were reasons to suspect a conspiracy between protesters and a section of the government. "The state intelligence has failed abysmally. Government should clarify why Section 144 was not declared in the area," he said.

Meanwhile, BJP state president K Surendran said it was the failure of the state government which led to a riot-like situation at Vizhinjam.
