KTU inks MoU with K-Disc
Thiruvananthapuram: In a bid to foster a future-ready workforce, APJ Abdul Kalam Technological University (KTU) and the Kerala Development and Innovation Strategic Council (K-Disc) signed an agreement to enhance the university's BTech curriculum. This enhancement involves integrating industry-relevant knowledge, skills, and practical exposure for students in real-world problem-solving by undertaking socially relevant projects. This partnership aims to align academic training with the latest market trends and technological advancements. The MoU is structured to establish a collaborative framework between KTU and K-Disc for offering industry-linked minors, electives, internships, and projects within the BTech 2024 curriculum. The initiative aims to bridge the gap between academia and industry by providing students access to real-world problem-solving opportunities and practical hands-on experience. Through the MoU, KTU students will gain access to electives and minor courses designed in collaboration with industry experts, focusing on technological advancements and market trends specific to Kerala's context.The partnership will provide long-term internships, offering students the practical exposure necessary to excel in the job market. Students will engage in socially relevant mini and major projects, tackling real-world problems while working with industries, govt bodies, and local self-govt institutions.K-Disc will also facilitate the training of KTU faculty members in delivering industry-linked courses, ensuring they are well-equipped to guide students through hands-on learning experiences. K-Disc will also facilitate partnerships between KTU's affiliated colleges and industries, enabling the smooth execution of projects, internships, and faculty training programmes.Vice-chancellor Dr Saji Gopinath said this collaboration is part of KTU's ongoing efforts to redefine engineering education by promoting innovation and research. By embedding industry-driven content and internships into the academic framework, KTU aims to equip its students with the skills needed to thrive in a rapidly changing technological landscape, he added.
