As per the bail conditions, he can be called for questioning but should be released on bail after questioning.
Thrissur rural police commissioner N Vijayakumar said conspiracy charges (Section 120(b) of the IPC) have been slapped on Krishna Das in the case related to the unnatural death of Jishnu who was a student of the Nehru College of Engineering and Research Centre (NCERC), Pambady, on January 6. “Das was grilled to elicit more evidence on the charges slapped against him,” he said.
Meanwhile, Jishnu’s family said they would go ahead with their planned protest in front of the DGP office on Wednesday. Jishnu’s mother Mahija said the arrest was just a drama to sabotage their agitation plan. She demanded the arrest of the other accused in the case whose pleas for anticipatory bail were declined by the court.
“We are already on our way to Thiruvananthapuram. The protest is to press for the arrest of the remaining four accused –– the PRO, vice-principal and invigilator of the college who had cooked up the allegation that Jishnu had copied in the examination, and tortured him,” said Jishnu’s uncle Sreejith on phone from Vadakara.
“The police can detain Krishna Das for questioning for 24 hours, as per the bail conditions. If he is going to be released immediately, then we will have to say that it was only a drama,” Sreejith said.
The agitation by the parents and residents of Jishnu’s native place was postponed twice following assurance from the government.
