KPAC Lalitha to head Sangeetha Nataka Akademi

Thiruvananthapuram: Actor KPAC Lalitha will be the new chairperson of Kerala Sangeetha Nataka Akademi. Culture minister A K Balan has cleared her appointment and an official announcement is likely on Monday.

Though the CPM had planned to field Lalitha from Wadakkanchery assembly constituency, the veteran actor had to back out after protests from party cadres.

According to sources, the government has also decided to appoint writer Vaisakhan as the chairman of Kerala Sahitya Akademi and film editor Beena Paul as the vice-chairperson of Kerala Chalachithra Academy.

While KPAC Lalitha will replace Soorya Krishnamoorty, Vaisakhan replaces Perumbadavam Sreedharan.
