THIRUVANANTHAPURAM: Fisheries minister
J Mercykutty Amma
has said that the distribution of kerosene for
fishermen
will continue through public distribution outlets. The minister's statement comes in the wake of uncertainty over distribution of kerosene through
public distribution outlets
as the union government had cited that present norm does not allow distribution of kerosene for fishermen through public distribution outlets.
The minister said that the decision has been made following a petition forwarded to union minister of state for Petroleum and natural gas,
Dharmendra Pradhan. Chief minister
Pinarayi Vijayan and fisheries minister had said in the petition that stopping distribution of kerosene through public distribution outlets will add to the misery of their life.
The new decision will benefit thirteen lakhs fishermen across the state.
