Kerala University youth fest celebrates spirit of survival
Sajeesh Parambath, husband of nurse Lini who died on duty combating Nipah outbreak, reads out the pledge of survival at the inauguration of Kerala University youth festival
THIRUVANANTHAPURAM: The family of Lini, the nurse who lost her life to Nipah virus infection, and fishermen from city who led rescue operations during August floods jointly inaugurated the five-day Kerala University Youth Festival on Tuesday evening on Kariyavattom campus. The festival titled ‘Honge Kamyaab – Youth Festival of Survival’ is themed on the aspect of survival against the backdrop of the tough times Kerala has gone through including cyclone Ockhi, Nipah outbreak and the August deluge.

Lini’s husband Sajeesh Parambath, mother Radha and children Siddharth and Rithul and fishermen volunteers Ani, Raju and Joseph were the special guests. Nedumangadu MLA C Divakaran delivered the keynote address. A pledge of survival was taken by all attendees .
Addressing the gathering, Sajeesh said that 2018 was a year of realization for the Kerala society.
Kerala University vice chancellor V P Mahadevan Pillai, pro-vice-chancellor Ajayakumar P P and mayor V K Prasanth spoke.
