Kerala to speed up efforts to use electric vehicles

THIRUVANANTHAPURAM: Chief minister Pinarayi Vijayan said that the state government will speed up steps to use electric vehicles in the state in order to reduce air pollution.
"Public participation is necessary to implement environment friendly measures. All who are interested in the welfare of our land must be a part of efforts to reduce air pollution," the CM said during the environment day celebrations organised by Forest Department.

"Out of the 30 most polluted cities, 22 are in India. None of the cities are in Kerala," said Forest minister K Raju.
The state government distributed around 64 saplings as part of its environment day celebration. The CM and Forest minister planted saplings on the premises of Forest headquarters on Wednesday.
