The general education department has already achieved the target of establishing one model nursery school in all districts as part of the ‘Thalolam’ programme by Samagra Shiksha.
“Efforts would be made to improve the standards of 28 more schools to the level of international level. Apart from the Samagra Shikha fund, the contribution of the local bodies where the schools are located should also be utilized for achieving the target,” he said. The upgraded primary schools would have activity corners and toys for the physical as well as mental health of the children.

In the government model school, space for primary students has been divided into seven. In each of the dedicated corners, children can have a taste of acting, music, drawing, reading, mathematics and science.
City corporation mayor Arya Rajendran, Samagra Shiksha Keralam director A P Kuttikrishnan, SCERT director J Prasad, SKOLE Kerala vice-chairman P Pramod, corporation councillor Madhava Das were among those who attended the meeting.
