This would be achieved by improving facilities in select schools, general education minister

V Sivankutty

said here on Friday. He was inaugurating the PTA empowerment programme at Thycaud government HSLPS and nursery school. The general education department has already achieved the target of establishing one model nursery school in all districts as part of the ‘Thalolam’ programme by Samagra Shiksha.

“Efforts would be made to improve the standards of 28 more schools to the level of international level. Apart from the Samagra Shikha fund, the contribution of the local bodies where the schools are located should also be utilized for achieving the target,” he said. The upgraded primary schools would have activity corners and toys for the physical as well as mental health of the children.

‘Thalolam’ was launched during the first Pinarayi Vijayan government rule with an objective to bring quality in primary school education. In the government model school, space for primary students has been divided into seven. In each of the dedicated corners, children can have a taste of acting, music, drawing, reading, mathematics and science.
