THIRUVANANTHAPURAM: Thomas Gabriel Perera, the Thumba native who was shot dead in Jordan, was laid to rest on Tuesday. Gabriel's body was brought from Jordan to Thiruvananthapuram early Tuesday morning. Gabriel was killed on Feb 10 while he was trying to cross over from Jordan to Israel.

Gabriel's relatives received his body at the Thiruvananthapuram airport. The body was later taken to his home in Rajeev Gandhi Nagar, Thumba for public homage, followed by a burial at St John's Church in Thumba. Food and civil supplies minister GR Anil, former union minister V Muraleedharan, and other leaders paid their last respects.

On Feb 10, Gabriel was shot dead by the Jordanian military at the Jordan-Israel border. The tragedy occurred during an attempt to cross into Israel.

The incident came to light when his relative, Edison, who was injured in the incident, returned home. The family is preparing to file a complaint against the Thumba native who took Thomas and Edison to Jordan.
