T'puram: The cabinet on Wednesday decided to allocate Rs 4 lakh each from the Chief Minister's Distress Relief Fund (CMDRF) to the dependents of the four people who died in the accident caused by a fireworks explosion during the festival at Veerar Kavu Bhagavathi Temple in Nileshwaram, Kasaragod. The state has already declared the accident as a state-specific disaster.
Along with this, the cabinet also decided to grant Rs 3 lakh each from the CMDRF to the dependents of the four individuals from Salem, Tamil Nadu, who died in an accident while cleaning the Shoranur railway bridge.
TENURE EXTENDED
The term of the inquiry commission chaired by Justice V K Mohanan, appointed on May 7, 2021, to examine issues related to the diversion of investigations conducted by various central agencies in the state since July 2020, will be extended by six months from Nov 7, 2024. The term of Justice V K Mohanan Commission, formed on May 12, 2023, to investigate the causes of the boat accident at Thuvalthiram Beach, Tanur, Malappuram, on May 7, 2023, and to recommend measures to prevent such disasters in the future, also will be extended by six months from Nov 12, 2024.
GOVT GUARANTEE
A govt guarantee of Rs 30cr will be provided to Kerala Paper Products Ltd for raising working capital from banks.
STAMP DUTY WAIVER
The stamp duty and registration fee amounting to Rs 9.68cr will be waived for registering the contract related to Kerala Bank's takeover of the loan amount of Rs 138.23cr from KTDFC, secured by KSRTC's properties.
