Selfie, directed by Agostino Ferrente, is the inaugural film of the 12th
International Documentary and Film Festival
, which will begin on Friday. As many as 262 films will be screened at Kairali, Shree and Nila theatres as a part during the six-day festival.
Governor P Sathasivam
will inaugurate the IDSFFK at 6pm on Friday at Kairali theatre.
Documentary filmmaker Madhushree Dutta will be given lifetime achievement award at the valedictory session of the festival on June 26. Chief minister Pinarayi Vijayan will present the award, carrying Rs 2 lakh and statuette, to Madhushree. Seven films of Madhushree will be screened during the IDSFFK. Madhushree, who is known as a documentary film maker, curator and teacher, is also founder of Majlis, which works for women’s rights.
As many as 262 films will be screened at the festival in Kairali, Sree and Nila theatres. There are 63 films in competition section. Competition will be held in various categories such as long documentary, short documentary, short fiction and campus film.
