KOCHI: The government doctors in Kerala are once again on a warpath and have begun an indefinite 'non-cooperation' agitation to press for their various demands including revision of pay scales.
Kerala Government Medical Officers Association (KGMOA) President, Dr Manoj Narayan, said that they would attend to all outpatients and inpatients and conduct surgeries at the hospitals, but would stay away from other duties like escorting VVIPs, training programmes and National Rural Health mission programmes.

The doctors had gone on a similar strike from October one last year and had withdrawn it following the Kerala High Court's intervention.
The court was trying to bring in a peaceful settlement, but the government was not keen to settle the issue amicably, he alleged.
There are over 2000 doctors serving the state health department.
Besides urgent revision of pay-scales, the doctors are demanding improvement in their working conditions and filling up of vacancies in hospitals. There are 700-800 vacancies of doctors to be filled, he said.
