THIRUVANANTHAPURAM: The state government has abruptly removed K Biju from the post of mining and geology director that involves high stakes in the quarry sector.

The 2006 batch IAS officer has been replaced by Haritha V Kumar, a 2013-batch officer, in the post of director of mining and geology as well as that of industries.

Biju has been transferred as special secretary in the local self-government department. He has been acting against illegal quarrying in the state, especially after the devastating floods, and his action against such mines had invited the wrath of the government.
