THIRUVANANTHAPURAM: The state government has abruptly removed K Biju from the post of mining and geology director that involves high stakes in the quarry sector.
The 2006 batch IAS officer has been replaced by Haritha V Kumar, a 2013-batch officer, in the post of director of mining and geology as well as that of industries.
Biju has been transferred as special secretary in the local self-government department. He has been acting against illegal quarrying in the state, especially after the devastating floods, and his action against such mines had invited the wrath of the government. He had issued a blanket ban on all quarries across the state after landslides hit Kavalappara in Malappuram and Pathumala in
Wayanad
during last year's monsoon.
