Jerry Amaldev takes over as mentor of music club

Kollam: Composer Jerry Amaldev inaugurated and assumed charge as the chief mentor of St John Britto Music Club at Sakthikulangara on Saturday as part of the parish campaign against drug abuse. The music club has been formed under the auspices of the newly formed, Samaritans Sakthikulangara.The maestro would teach devotional hymns and light music to the choir and budding talents, in-person once every month, followed by weekly online sessions. The medium would be Western classical notation system.After the inauguration, he led the choir, "Sing India, With Jerry Amaldev", through a two-hour session, rendering popular compositions such as "Kiliye kiliye, Aayiram Kannumayi". The audience sang along, joining in the rare experience of a live performance with the maestro at the parish hall. Before each song, the parish priest, Fr Rajesh Martin, introduced the context of the respective composition. TNN
