THIRUVANANTHAPURAM: The video installations featuring the history of Malayalam cinema is drawing crowd in good numbers at Tagore theatre. The installation, the brain child of director
Lijin Jose, was jointly inaugurated by actors Jagathy Sreekumar and Sheela here on Saturday.
Posters of Malayalam films ranging from 'Balan', the first talkies in Malayalam, to the latest release Kammattipadam starring Dulquer Salman are being featured as part of the installation titled `Designers' attic'.
Designs of artists and directors like Bharathan and C N
Karunakaran are also on display .
Age-old editions of vari ous film publications form another attraction at the Designers' attic. Kerala state Chalachitra academy chairman Kamal, directors I V Sasi, Lal Jose, P T Kunjumohammad, T V Chandran, Syamaprasad, B Unnikrishnan were present on the occasion. Art directors Radhakrishnan, Neethi Kodungallor, Sabu Colonia, Roy P Thomas, Sabu Pravada, Bhattathiri were honoured at the inaugural function of Designers attic. The instal lations are being exhibited on screens which unravel the advertisement of films, both old and new ones.
The presence of actor Jagathy who had been staying away from films after he met with an accident was much appreciated by the audience.Delegates waved at Jagathy who was seated in a wheelchair. Actress Sheela spoke at length about the drastic changes that had happened in the Malayalam film industry over the years.
