thiruvananthapuram: the month-long ''india festival,'' a cultural extravaganza by the city-based soorya, will begin here on september 21. an array of artistes, including dancers and cine personalities, will take part in the festival, which will begin with the screening of malayalam short feature ''saree'' directed by dr suma joson, according to chief coordinator krishnamoorthy.
the festival will have five major sections -- film, music and dance, theatre, handicrafts and food. in the film festival section, several films, including utsab (bengali) by rituparno ghosh, astiwa (hindi) by mahesh manjrekar, bas yari rakho(hindi) by dr gopi desai, jeevan masai (malayalam) by t n gopakumar and rhythm (tamil) by vasanth will be screened.
