has directed the rural SP to conduct a probe by a police officer not below the rank of DSP. The commission observed that the SI had not functioned cautiously while handling a civil dispute.

According to a report, it was on a complaint filed by a woman, the Balaramapuram sub-inspector and three other police officers assaulted Shamnad on October 20, 2021.

In the report submitted before the commission, it was stated that Shamnad was constructing a house at Thempammoodu with Rs 4-lakh aid received through the Life Mission scheme. The woman had alleged that she had acquired a stay from the court against the construction, and the police officials reached the spot to examine it.
