History-sheeter arrested for attacking man using hammer

T'puram: Kazhakkoottam police arrested a 45-year-old man for allegedly attacking Lalu (38) of Menamkulam with a hammer and attempting to murder him at Panchayat Road in Chittattumukku earlier this week.The accused has been identified as Ratheesh alias Panchayat Unni of Chittattumukku.Police said the incident occurred around 7.45pm on Wednesday when Lalu was returning home from work. The accused allegedly intercepted him, verbally abused and assaulted him with a hammer.Lalu sustained grievous injuries to his face, head and other parts of the body in the attack and was admitted to hospital. Police registered a case against the accused under charges including attempt to murder.Ratheesh is a habitual offender and is involved in around 19 assault cases registered at Kazhakkoottam and Kadinamkulam police stations.
