Thiruvananthapuram: When chief minister Pinarayi Vijayan releases the Children’s Day special stamp on
November 14, it will be a moment of pride for a city girl. The stamp will carry the painting of Aleena A P, who is the winner of the painting competition held by Kerala state committee for child welfare (KSCCW).
Aleena, a Class VI student of Carmel Girls Higher Secondary School, came first in the painting competition which saw the participation of around 200 students from across the state.
Artist Nemom Pushparaj was the judge of the competition.
“The topic given for the competition was ‘renaissance for rebuild Kerala’. Aleena has included historic events such as ‘villuvandi yatra’ of social reformer and dalit icon Ayyankali and the Temple Entry Proclamation in her painting,” said KSCCW general secretary S P Deepak in a press statement.
A native of Poojappura, Aleena is the daughter of J Prasannan and Ancy S Sam. Aleena has won state and national level awards for clay modelling, cartoon drawing, digital painting, elocution, essay writing etc.
On Children’s Day on November 14, CM Pinarayi Vijayan will release the stamp by handing it to minister for women and child welfare K K Shailaja at a function to be held at Kanakakunnu Palace. TNN
