THIRUVANANTHAPURAM: With various cultural programmes, rituals and public meetings, the 165th birth anniversary celebrations of
Sree Narayana Guru
will begin at Sree Narayana Gurukulam, Chempazhanthi, from Thursday.
The anniversary celebrations at
Sivagiri
Mutt will begin on Friday. Union minister V Muraleedharan will officially inaugurate the anniversary celebrations on Friday at 9.30am.
Swami Vishudhananda, president of Dharma Sangam, will preside over the event. Adoor Prakash, MP, will deliver the keynote address. V Joy, MLA, and Varkala municipality chairperson Bindu Haridas will speak on the occasion.
Sharadhananda, treasurer of Dharmasangam, will inaugurate the ‘japayagnam’. The procession will be taken out at 4.30pm.
According to Gurukulam secretary Swami Shubhangananda, the Chempazhanthi Mutt is all set for celebrations. The day’s rituals will begin at 6am on Friday with group prayers. Opposition leader Ramesh Chennithala will inaugurate the ‘darshanika’ meeting at 10am.
Mayor V K Prashanth will preside over the event, which will be attended by M Mukesh, MLA. Minister for ports and archives Kadannappally Ramachandran will formally inaugurate the cultural procession, which will start form Gurukulam at 4pm. Education minister C Raveendranath will inaugurate the cultural meeting in the presence of cooperation minister Kadakampally Surendran at 6.30pm. Swami Vishudhananda will deliver ‘jayanthi’ message and Swami Sookshmananda will attend the event.
Ahead of Sree Narayana Guru birth anniversary celebration, Thiruvananthapuram corporation has declared the wards such as Edavacode, Chellamangalam, Chempazhanthi and Sreekaryam as festival areas from Wednesday to Friday.
