Guest workers’ regn via portal from today

Thiruvananthapuram: Labour minister V Sivankutty has said the labour department would carry out a massive registration of guest workers in the state from Monday.Sivankutty asked the officials to work on a war footing to complete the registration through the portal athidhi.lc.kerala.gov.in.

“Registration will be done in a timely manner by involving more officers and volunteers with the support of other departments. Setting up of helpdesks at railway stations will also be considered,” said Sivankutty. The labour department will facilitate registration at offices, worksites and labour camps.Labour commissioner Arjun Pandian said the aim was to collect accurate data on guest workers and ensure them social security. Unique ID obtained through registration will be mandatory for all benefits including Awas Insurance. Pandian also suggested contractors and employers ensure registration of workers.Guest workers as well as their contractors and employers can do the registration.
