THIRUVANANTHAPURAM: Former chief minister V S Achuthanandan, 101, was admitted to a private hospital with cardiac issues in Thiruvananthapuram on Monday. He was taken to the hospital after he suffered a heart attack.
Achuthanandan is admitted to the cardiology wing of the hospital and is on ventilator support. According to doctors, his condition is stable. CPM state secretary M V Govindan, who visited the ailing former chief minister at the hospital, said he suffered a cardiology issue and his condition at present is stable.
Achuthanandan was ailing for the past few years. The doctors imposed strict restrictions for the visitors and hence no one was allowed to meet him at his residence. Chief minister Pinarayi Vijayan and governor Rajendra Arlekar visited him earlier at his residence.
