Expected to give the tourists a unique dining experience on the water, the restaurant christened ‘Flotilla’ comes as an added attraction in Veli, which already provides boating facilities and the beach experience for visitors. The KTDC has spent around Rs 50 lakh for renovating and reopening the restaurant.

This restaurant on Veli Lake, which has been constructed with Anjili (wild jack) wood and teakwood on a ferrocement platform, has a floating footpath for entry. Ensuring more safety, the restaurant is also supported by coconut trunks.

The spacious ground floor (3,075sq.ft) of the restaurant will have 14 tables and can accommodate 56 guests, while the 675sq.ft upper floor will have seven tables and can accommodate 28 people. The facility will offer various snacks and bakery items including burgers, sandwiches and muffin/puffs/pastry from Mascot Hotel (KTDC’s prime property in the capital city), various types of ice creams, ice-tea, cold coffee and milk shakes at a price ranging from Rs 10 to Rs 175.

The restaurant will also accept advance booking for evening get-togethers (Phone: 9400008748). The inaugural ceremony will be attended by MP Shashi Tharoor, MLA V S Sivakumar, KTDC chairman M Vijayakumar, city mayor K Sreekumar and tourism secretary Rani George.
