Documentary and short film festival, Kerala to begin on Friday
THIRUVANANTHAPURAM: Chief minister Pinarayi Vijayan will inaugurate the 10th international documentary and short film festival, Kerala (IDSFFK) at Kairali theatre at 6 pm on Friday. Minister for film and culture A K Balan will be present on the occasion. "Life Animated" by Roger Ross Williams which was nominated for Academy awards and "Sakhisona" directed by Prantik Basu which won one of the three Tiger awards at 46th international film festival Rotterdam will be screened as the opening movies.
Life Animated tells the story of Owen Suskind, an autistic youth who discovered a way of communication with the help of dialogues from his favourite Walt Disney movies.
A total of 210 movies will be screened at IDSFFK at Kairali, Sree and Nila theatres. 77 films have been included in competition section. The competition section includes various categories like Animation, Campus film, Long documentary, Short documentary and short fiction. Films of German filmmaker Wim Wenders will be screened under "Honoring the master" section. Films of Palestinian film maker
Sections "Migrant bodies" and "Native hearts" will capture lives of migrant Malayalees. Films which won honors at Vienna short film festival will be screened as "Vienna shorts". Master classes by renowned technicians and film makers, theatre performance, music band performance and music concerts will also be held as part of the fest.
