Cyclone Burevi: Special alert issued for 48 villages in Thiruvananthapuram district

District disaster management authority officials said that as per the prediction of Indian Meteorological Department, Burevi is expected to pass through the capital district on Friday. Southern districts of Thiruvananthapuram, Kollam, Pathanamthitta and Alapuzha will experience extreme rainfall accompanied by strong winds in the next two days. Fishermen are banned from going to sea until further notice from the government.
IMD and State Disaster Management Authority officials are closely monitoring the growth and direction of movement of cyclone Burevi and issuing updates. As per the latest bulletin IMD has issued an orange alert for southern districts in Kerala and Tamil Nadu in the wake of the approaching cyclone.
