Crime branch ASI dies after road accident

Thiruvananthapuram: Crime branch ASI Selvaraj, 48, who was undergoing treatment after sustaining injuries in a road accident, died on Sunday. He was a resident of Balaramapuram.Selvaraj was injured after being hit by a KSRTC bus and a motorcycle near a shop in Vizhinjam around 5.25pm on Saturday. He was rushed to a private hospital and had been under treatment since the incident. However, he succumbed to his injuries a day later. The funeral service was completed at his home. Police said Selvaraj was returning home after visiting the newly opened crime branch office in Muttathara, carrying official files, when the accident occurred. The circumstances leading to the crash are being examined. Selvaraj was known among colleagues for his dedication to duty. Police registered the case and began the investigation. He is survived by his wife, Manju Selvaraj, and sons Vineesh and Jagan.
