CPM picks Prathibha Hari for Kayamkulam

ALAPPUZHA: The CPM has decided to field former district panchayat president U Prathibha Hari in Kayamkulam and K K Ramachandran Nair in Chengannur in the assembly election. The crisis over these seats were resolved on Tuesday following intervention of the state committee.
The district committee meeting on the day was attended by CPM state secretary Kodiyeri Balakrishnan.Earlier, a majority in the district committee supported the candidature of MLA C K Sadasivan in Kayamkulam but the leadership suggested Bharanikavu block panchayat president Rajani Parekadan.
The other candidates approved are A M Ariff (Aroor), T M Thomas Isaac (Alappuzha), G Sudhakaran (Ambalappuzha) and R Rajesh (Mavelikkara). The candidates will be officially announced by the state committee on Saturday.
The CPI will contest in Cherthala (MLA P Thilothaman) and Haripad while the NCP will contest in Kuttanad (Thomas Chandy). Actors Nedumudi Venu, Asokan and AIYF leader G Krishnaprasad are being considered for Haripad. tnn
